Grandma Terry's Chili

beans, turkey, tomatoes, chili, garlic, onion powder



Ingredients



1 lb ground turkey or 1 lb ground beef
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package chili seasoning mix (mild or hot)
3 (16 ounce) cans kidney beans, drained (light or dark)
2 (15 ounce) canshormel turkey chili with beans
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can whole tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
salt and pepper

Directions for Grandma Terry's Chili Recipe



In a large pot, add beans, turkey chili, and using the cans, add 4 cans of water. Season with salt and pepper. Heat on medium/medium-high.
In a blender or processor, give a few pulses to the tomatoes until thick, leaving only a few chunks left.
In a large skillet, brown ground turkey, seasoning with garlic, onion and salt and pepper, until no longer pink. Drain. Return to skillet.
Add tomato puree and chili seasonin and bring to a boil. Then let simmer for about 20-30 minutes, letting the flavors absorb.
Add meat mixture to the beans, cover and simmer for atleast 30 minutes. Better to let simmer for 2-3 hours.
NOTE.
For more flavor, saute chopped onion with the meat while it's cooking. I don't cause of my husbands taste.
